In the year 1993, Team Ohio, a Midget AAA hockey team, was developed as the first ever Pre - Post high school program in Ohio.  The team is comprised solely of high school hockey players who participate prior to, and after their high school seasons.

In addition to the Midget schedule, the core of players also represent the state at the prestigious Chicago Showcase Tournament.   Team Ohio was Runner-Up in 1993, Quarter-Finalists in 1994 and Simi-Finalist in 1995.

The Purpose for the formation of Team Ohio can be stated very simply: "To give student athletes an avenue to gain the necessary exposure in order to optimize their future opportunities, without sacrificing the valuable experience of playing for their high schools".  In the past, the Ohio hockey player would have to forsake high school in order to receive such opportunities.

Team Ohio participates against the highest level of competition available in North America.  Over the past eight seasons, the team has consistently traveled to Toronto, Boston, Chicago, Pittsburgh, New Jersey, Detroit, and Buffalo.  During the 1995-1996 and 1996-1997 seasons, Team Ohio won District and Regional Titles, advancing to the Tier I National Championships.  In September of the 1997 season, the team advanced to the Quarter-Finals of the highly acclaimed Joe Maire Tournament in Wexford, Ontario.
More important than championships, is the fact that by competing at this level, student athletes are afforded the opportunity to display their skills in front of scouts from Intercollegiate, Junior A, Major A, Prep and Professional Organizations.  Since Team Ohio's inception, more than seventy players have moved on to a higher level.

Because of the success in moving individuals, Team Ohio has expanded to include two Midget AAA teams and a Midget AA team.  The AA team is utilized to develop players for next year's squad, and competes during the same time period as the AAA team.  All members of the program are High School student athletes.
