Team Ohio 16U is heading to California!

Team Ohio- 2025 16U Tier II State Champs! 

Team Ohio 16U punched their ticket the the USA Hockey 16U Tier II National tournament on Sunday, October 26th with an impressive, 4-2, win over the Columbus Chill in the Ohio State Championship. 

Team Ohio, 20-12-2 overall, kicked off their season in mid-August but didn't seem to find their game until mid-October finishing with six straight wins and outscoring their opponents a staggering 55-5.  

State Tournament Recap:
Game 1: Team Ohio 18 v. Sylvania North Stars 0  
Game 2: Team Ohio 6 v. Toledo Mobsters 0  
Game 3: Team Ohio 6 v. Cleveland Crusaders 1  
State Championship: Team Ohio 4 v. Columbus Chill 2

The boys were buzzing in their opening game at the state tournament, a game that six different goal scorers netting a pair (Arth, Gray, Richard, Libbey, Wieland & Ghann) enroute to an 18-0 drubbing of the Sylvania North Stars. 

Game two for Team Ohio was the Toledo Mobsters, a team they had beat handedly two times just a week earlier.  The boys handled business topping Toledo, 6-0; the bright spot was Alex Voll who posted his second shutout in as many games stopping all 19 Mobsters shots faced. 

In their final pool play game Team Ohio faced off against their crosstown foe, the Cleveland Crusaders, defeating them 6-1. Cole Richard led all scorers with a goal and four assists and Graysen Metzger picked up three helpers.  Nolan Ghann potted a pair adding to his team leading total of a staggering 35 goals in 32 games played. 

Team Ohio came out flying scoring three first period goals and setting the tone right away in their state championship game against Columbus Chill.  Colin Arth started the scoring for Team Ohio burying on a breakaway after taking a terrific feed from Cole McCarthy.   Shane Triscari didn't wait long slamming home a beautiful pass from Cole Richard just over 90 seconds after Team Ohio's opening goal.  Josh Gray capped off the first period scoring netting what became the eventual game winner with just under two minutes left in the opening frame, assisting on the goal was Sebastian Juan and Kai Jenkins.  After a scoreless middle period, Columbus broke through scoring a pair of goals just 37 seconds apart early in the final period to cut Team Ohio's lead a single goal.  Colin Libbey iced the Chill with just under five minutes remaining in the game putting in a Triscari rebound. Tommy Stewart was rock solid in net stopping 34/36 shots faced and none were bigger than his stops in the games final minutes. 

Next up, the USA Hockey National Tournament in Anaheim, CA which takes place March 25-29, 2026.
